Series In The Flesh guest in Ravenna!

InTheFlesh a Ravenna

I was in London to see the protagonist Luke Newberry (& wonderful Co., like Oliver Johnstone) on stage in Teddy Ferrara, when Dominic Mitchell tweeted he was invited at the event ravennanightmare.it for the Italian premiere of In The Flesh!!

And then he RTed my tweet:

I had my (original!!!) DVD with me in London, so I’m happy Luke Newberry said “Hello” outside the Donmar Warehouse and signed both my programme and the DVD cover! He even said “Thank you for buying this!“, but told me he was sorry he couldn’t make Ravenna because he’s doing the play in London. It’s a very good reason, it’s a beautiful play!! (I’ll post my report soon).

My Italian friends who were with me took some lovely pictures (see their gallery there).

Today, also the actor Kevin Sutton, who plays Gary Kendal, tweeted:

so this even more exciting! He played such a terrific baddie in the series!

But since the BBC didn’t give us a third season, there’s a petition to make In The Flesh Movie possible. “It has to happen!” I’ve signed already! www.change.org

You can download for free Programme and Catalogue of Ravenna Nightmare Film Festival from their site, it’s in Italian and English: http://ravennanightmare.it/2015/eng/programme.asp

I just can’t wait for this week-end!

Oh, damn you, London theatre!

It’s all member of the cast’ fault if I noticed almost last minute the musical The White Feather and, reading the synopsys, I had to book immediately!

The White Feather tweet

I’ve booked for this musical on Friday 16 October night, on their second last day of performances.

The White Feather 16 ott

So now my list of plays to see in London is: Teddy Ferrara (at least twice), The White Feather, The Bright And Bold Design plus one or two I will choose from the NTArchive.

I greatly appreciate the Union Theatre releases E-tickets, so I got it already! More theatres should do that!

The White Feather is a musical on the Great War, gender inequality and refers to homosexuality (that it seems was not unusual between WWI soldiers) – official site

The White Feather poster

<<This September, Arion Productions presents the world premiere of new British musical The White Feather at the Union Theatre.  It tells the story of Georgina Briggs whose brother was one of over 300 allied soldiers executed for cowardice during the First World War.  She won’t accept the shame and she won’t let it lie.  But as she fights for justice a shocking discovery awaits her.

Memorials to the soldiers who fought and died in the Great War grace almost every town and village but 306 names are conspicuous by their absence – the men who were executed by their own side. Some were deserters and others were condemned for putting down their weapons in the course of battle but many were suffering from what we know now as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

The White Feather tells the story of one soldier and his sister’s lifelong fight for a posthumous pardon. It also encounters the issues of homosexuality and gender inequality at the turn of the century. With powerful songs and a storyline with a twist, this production has a sharp emotional intensity generated by words and music.>>

It’s never too much for a theatregoer!

What I’ve booked for from September to January. It’s never too much for a theatregoer! I’m so excited, even for “War Horse“, which I saw already!

I’m glad to see Ben Whishaw, Oliver Johnstone and John Heffernan on stage again. Can’t wait to see some others for the first time: Bertie Carvel, Benedict Cumberbatch, Karl Johnson, Dan Parr, Reece Sheersmith, David Morrissey, Sally Messham, Laura Roger, Luke Newberry, Anna Maxwell Martin and others.

I’ve great expectations on the three LGBT plays “The Sum Of Us“, “Tipping The Velvet” and “Teddy Ferrara“, which feature young cast mostly.

And, despite I tried hard to…. resist, I HAD to book for “Macbeth” in January, because since “Oppenheimer” I realized I can’t miss a “perfornan” (aka a John Heffernan’s performance). My notebook is ready for my notes!

Last but not least, I’ve great expectations for 2016: I wish so much one actor announces his next stage role….but, shhht, I can’t talk….(yet).

I also appreciate theatres that manage e-tickets. I’ve booked for “The Car Man” by Matthew Bourne at the Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna for “Ravenna Festival 2015” for Sunday 5 July matinee and I immediately got it by email.
